What Is a Fiverr Vetted Pro (And Why It Matters When Hiring)?

If you’ve browsed Fiverr for web developers, you’ve seen the badges: Level 2, Top Rated, Pro. They look like gamification, but two of them are genuinely hard to get — and knowing the difference can save you from a bad hire. I hold both, so let me explain them from the inside.

The badge hierarchy, decoded

  • New Seller → Level 1 → Level 2: mostly automatic, based on order volume and ratings. Useful, but low bar.
  • Top Rated: awarded (and continuously re-evaluated) for sustained performance across many orders — high ratings, on-time delivery, low cancellations over a long period. Fiverr’s editorial team approves these manually.
  • Pro / Vetted Pro: a separate application process where Fiverr’s team reviews your portfolio, experience and professional background. Roughly 1% of applicants are accepted. This is the closest thing Fiverr has to a professional certification.

Why this matters for you as a buyer

The core problem with hiring online is information asymmetry: everyone claims to be an expert. A Vetted Pro badge means a real human at Fiverr examined the seller’s actual work and credentials; a Top Rated badge means hundreds of real clients were consistently happy. Combined, they filter out the two most common bad outcomes — the talented-but-unreliable and the reliable-but-mediocre.

What it looks like in practice

On my profile you’ll see both badges next to a 4.9★ rating from 227 reviews. Behind that: a computer engineering degree, freelancing since 2011, and 400+ delivered websites. The badges don’t make the work better — but they let you verify the track record before you spend a cent, which no personal website can offer. More on that in my hiring guide.

Does Pro mean expensive?

Not necessarily. My packages start at US$275 — far below agency rates for custom work. What the badge changes isn’t the price tier, it’s the certainty that the person behind the listing has been independently checked.

FAQ

How many Fiverr sellers are Vetted Pros?

Fiverr states that around 1% of applicants pass the Pro vetting process. It requires a portfolio review and proof of professional experience.

Is Top Rated or Pro better?

They measure different things: Top Rated = proven long-term delivery record; Pro = independently vetted expertise. A seller holding both has demonstrated both skill and consistency.

Do I pay extra for buyer protection with a Pro seller?

No. Every Fiverr order — Pro or not — keeps your payment in escrow until you approve the delivery.

Need a website built by a vetted pro?

I’m Arif — a freelance WordPress & Wix Studio developer, Fiverr Vetted Pro and Top Rated seller with a 4.9★ rating from 227 reviews. I usually reply within an hour.
